Welcome to the Sandy Schurz Portrait Boutique blog.

Sandy's specialty lies in helping you create natural and genuine portrait art pieces that showcase your little one's unique personality, and the relationship you and your loved ones share with him/her.

With specialized attention to all the details that go into creating your personalized portraits, Sandy will design precisely the portraits that you wish to own and display in your home.

You will find happy and helpful guest care at each step of the portrait creation process, and long after the investment of your portraits. Your investment promises a 100% guarantee, or your money back. This is a promise that not only will you absolutely love your finished art pieces, but you will love the way Sandy treats you at every stage of your portrait experience.

Sandy's Style: Sandy exclusively uses natural light to create your portrait art pieces. Whether in the studio or on-location, she prefers to "find the light". Light from a window, the shaded side of a building, an over-cast sky, or the last bit of dusted light from the sun before it sets, are some of her favorite lighting opportunities.

Sandy uses a photojornalistic approach to capture natural and authentic expressions and pose her guests. Sandy strives to highlight every expression of each individuals unique personality- from a laugh, to a frown, to a simple stair.

Sandy's specialty is clearly babies. Additionally she enjoys photographing children and their families.

The portrait creation atmosphere: Sandy will reserve the day exclusively for you. You will be allowed as much time as necessary, in a relaxed atmosphere, to get all the details right, and create the portraits you wish to own; at no additional investment.

It is not uncommon for a session to last 2 hours or more. You will have plenty of time to feed, diaper, and comfort your baby/child. As well your child will be provided as much time as necessary to warm up to Sandy, the camera, and his/her new surroundings. You will never be rushed through your portrait experience.

Because babies schedules are so unpredictable, a typical session time might be rescheduled to allow mom and baby an extra 30 minutes before or after the actual scheduled time. This ensures baby arrives in the best possible mood.

The delivery of your portrait art: Sandy will choose the best 20-30 (depending on the nature of your session) portraits from your session. She takes the time with each chosen portrait to tweak it to perfection. She will chose a color conversion depending on the mood and emotion that the portrait portrays (typically you will receive a color version, and a sepia or b&w version).

Approximately one week after your session, you will receive 20-30 full-resolution, fully finished, ready to be printed digital portraits from your session. Your portrait CD includes permissions that offer you the opportunity to print your finished portraits at the lab of your choice, and share your portraits freely among friends and family members.
*Digitally altering or enhancing the finished portrait product with digital software programs, is against the permissions agreement.

Additionally, Sandy is happy to offer you professional portrait printing on the highest quality fine art papers, professional mounting surfaces, framing materials, and gallery wrapped canvases.

You are always welcome to a complimentary one-on-one display discussion and ordering session with Sandy following the delivery of your finished portraits CD, to discuss professional studio printing and display options.

Availability & Reservations: It is never too early to reserve your newborn session or to set up your baby's first year portrait plan. Newborn babies are best captured with-in the first 1-2 weeks of life, while they are still flexible and sleepy.

To ensure the highest quality experience for each of Sandy's guests, she reserves only a limited amount of sessions each week, and is typically booked 4 -6 weeks in advance. To inquire about availability, contact the boutique by phone or email.

Upon verbal agreement of your reservation date, you will receive an electronic investment request via email for $100, which is a non-refundable reservation deposit. If you'd prefer to make your reservation installment by check or cash, you may deliver it to Sandy in person. Your reservation deposit will be applied toward your session investment, which will be asked for in full at your session.

My Kids (and my new branding)

Jaydlen woke Rhylen up early from his nap today. I wanted to be mad at her because I had so much to get done and really needed the extra time while he was napping, but when I peeked in the room and found her in his basinet reading to him, all I could do was...

The Provost’s

I had so much fun photographing my long lost cousin and his family today. I haven’t seen Chris in years, which is pretty sad. We used to play together all the time when we were kids, and we had some pretty good times back in the day. I guess it’s a good thing I do...

Rhylen Jase

I love babies and I love photographing babies more than anything… and you all know I ALWAYS get a little teary-eyed while photographing other peoples little ones, so you can only imagine what a mess I was when I was photographing this little guy- after all he is mine.

Lesley and Myami

I have to admit I have been bad. I was having contractions all of yesterday, and finally got sent home from the hospital with strict doctors orders to stay on bed rest, and drink a crazy amount of water in an attempt to stop my contractions- since I still have 4 weeks left until my...
